Hello
My passion is combining my two loves of natural materials and early childhood education. There are so many wonderful things that we can learn from exploring the natural world, so that is what the Outside-In Classroom is all about! I am excited to share all the ways that I bring the outdoors into the classroom to support early learning and development.
My Story
I have been so fortunate to work with young children since 2007 in a variety of settings and areas. My experience has afforded me opportunities to explore and learn through various environments. It has been in these learning environments that I have developed a love for incorporating natural materials into the classroom.
I believe that children learn best through play and child-directed interactions, it is the adult's role to help guide that plays and show children where to look but not what to see. In the Outside-In Classroom, materials are presented in a manner that intrigues discovery but does not force engagement. Materials are presented in ways that are organized and easily accessible to all children.
